Expert: SH 121 growth ‘a matter of time’

Stonebriar Centre, constructed along a relatively undeveloped stretch of SH 121, put Frisco on the map in 2000 when it opened, spurring large amounts of the city’s growth. However, outside of the Preston Road and Dallas North Tollway intersections, the remaining portion of Frisco’s nearly 8-mile stretch of SH 121 had remained relatively dormant in the years since. Liberty Mutual Insurance’s new Plano campus has been in the works for months and months. As many as 5,000 jobs will be located in the Boston-based company’s planned Legacy business park office complex. The company confirmed the huge project just this week. But for a long time, real estate brokers and economic development folks called it by the code name “Victrola.” The code name for Toyota Motor’s headquarters move to Plano was “NOI.” A new data center in Richardson for State Farm Insurance was labeled “project Black Flag.” All that’s missing are the secret handshakes and midnight meetings in the high-stakes game of business moves. While it may sound silly to use made-up names and hide iden

Posted May 1st 2015 Vertical campuses will transform U.S. cities, according to many presenters at the Asian Real Estate Association of America’s 2015 Global & Luxury Summit, April 19-21, in Chicago. The confluence of wealthy Asian investors and millennial preferences for living where they can walk to work, to schools and libraries, shopping centers, and entertainment is setting the stage for these revitalizations of downtowns. “International investment in U.S. commercial real estate is poised for massive acceleration, especially from wealthy Asians,” says CCIM President Mark Macek, CCIM. “The AREAA Summit was an eye opener for considering how commercial real estate professionals can take ad
