More lofts and apartments coming to Shops at Park Lane
The Shops at Park Lane is apparently a place where more people also want to live.
Construction of another 165 apartments has started on the Park Lane side of the mixed-use development, across the street from the DART train stop and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Then a large building that’s been vacant and was originally built to be a sports club is being turned into 75 lofts. That building sits on top of a seven-level parking garage. The lofts will be on levels 8-10.
The Shops at Park Lane includes shops, restaurants, apartments and office space.
The development already has 325 apartments, but demand exceeds that now, said Sandy Spurgin, vice president of Northwood Retail. “The apartments have been very successful and stable.”
The Shops at Park Lane has been developed in stages after getting caught up in the Great Recession.
Northwood took it over and most recently competed an interior park area anchored by a Starbucks and a new office building.
J. Crew Factory store, the first in the city of Dallas, opens in late July and a new concept from fast-fashion retailer Forever 21 called F21 red will open in September. Both have full-price stores across the freeway in NorthPark Center.
F21 red will be on two levels and take up 19,600 square feet of space next to Old Navy.
The last big piece of land left in the development on the corner of North Central Expressway and Park Lane is still without a project. It’s a prime spot for a retailer. The shopping center is anchored by Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off 5th, Bloomingdale’s Outlet and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
