Liberty Mutual hires 1,150 workers, looking for thousands more before opening $325M Plano campus

By the end of the year, Boston-based Liberty Mutual Insurance plans to open the doors of its $325 million, 1.1 million-square-foot regional hub in Plano's Legacy West — and business, so far, has been good.

Liberty Mutual Insurance has topped out on its 1.1 million-square-foot regional hub in Plano

"We are actively looking for talented employees and are competing with our good neighbors and friends across the street," Sean Murphy, Liberty Mutual's director of design and construction, told the Dallas Business Journal.

"So far, we are very happy with the talent we've been able to recruit; it was a great decision," Murphy added.

The bones of the Liberty Mutual regional campus in Legacy West reached their upper most peak on Tuesday, bringing in a new addition to the West Plano skyline.

The campus has two 11-story towers atop a four-level, 5,500 parking garage. In all, the structure will top nearly 300 feet, or about 19 stories.

At completion, Liberty Mutual will consolidate its North Texas operations in Richardson and a temporary facility along the Dallas North Tollway into the new regional campus.

If all goes well, Liberty Mutual could consider setting up similar regional hubs in other parts of the United States.

"The success of Plano will determine the future for us," Murphy told the DBJ."We have several campuses throughout the country, with large presences in Boston, Seattle and in New Hampshire. We will hopefully find another Plano somewhere else in the future. Plano checked a lot of boxes for us; the talent pool around here is phenomenal."

The new Liberty Mutual regional hub will help attract and retain those employees with an amenity deck that includes a rooftop terrace and much more planned for the 1.1 million-square-foot campus.

Dallas-based KDC is the developer behind the project. Dallas-based Omniplan is the project architect. Balfour Beatty Construction is the general contractor for the development.
