Cowboys, Baylor Scott & White top out on new sports therapy center at The Star in Frisco

The Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Scott & White Health have reached the uppermost vertical point on a new sports therapy and research center at The Star in Frisco, which is the latest component to the Dallas Cowboys-anchored mixed-use development.

Baylor Scott & White Health, together with the Dallas Cowboys, announced plans for a game-changing sports medicine, research and performance facility that will be located at The Star in Frisco.

The front entrance of the new facility will have open windows and doors to the outside.

The new sports therapy and research campus will include an on-site pharmacy.

Services offered will complement and enhance healthy and active lifestyles, and will include diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation.

An urgent care center in the facility will provide access to care for non-emergent injuries and illnesses. It will serve as a first line of triage for sports-related injuries.

The Imaging Center on The Star campus will serve all patients, including Dallas Cowboys football players, with an additional local outreach program planned for Frisco.

The facility will offer a wide variety of outpatient rehabilitation therapy services for injured athletes including: physical therapy, occupational therapy and neuropsychology services.

Through the sports performance program, athletes will be able to monitor, understand and improve overall performance. The program will reside on the first and second floors and feature an indoor/outdoor training field, basketball court, workout area and locker rooms.

The lobby within the tower will include lots of open glass and a clean look for visitors.

The new center will focus on injury prevention, research and wellness for athletes ranging from youth players to professionals, such as the Dallas Cowboys players.

It also will include a Gatorade Sports Science Institute, which solidifies a longstanding relationship between the Cowboys and Gatorade's parent company, PepsiCo.

Additional plans for the new facility include:

  • An imaging center with MRI suite

  • A sports performance program

  • An urgent care center

  • An outpatient rehabilitation clinic

  • A brain injury program with concussion specialist on the sidelines of Frisco ISD games

  • A research center that can look at concussion management to clinical management

Perkins+Will is the architect on the new sports therapy and research center. Dallas-based Medco is the general contractor. For the entirety of The Star in Frisco, Manhattan Construction is the project's general contractor and Gensler is the architect for the mixed-use development.

The new sports therapy and research center is slated for completion next year.
