JPMorgan Chase files plans to extend Legacy West campus

About a year after wrapping up the first phase of its 1 million-square-foot regional office project at Legacy West, JPMorgan Chase & Co. plans to expand its campus.

According to a report from the Dallas Morning News, JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) filed preliminary plans for the hub's second phase with Plano's planning and zoning department. Show Full Story

The latest plans for the site propose a 7-story, 1,900-space parking garage, the Morning News reported.

The current campus is served by two parking garages for three existing office buildings, and constructing a parking garage will free up space for JPMorgan to develop more office space, the Morning News said.

Early renderings of JPMorgan's Plano hub showed at least five office buildings as part of the 49-acre project.

Employees began moving into the JPMorgan's campus in September 2017, and, at the time, JPMorgan expected to move as many as 6,500 into the office complex.

"There were cheaper options for us outside of Legacy West, but we wanted to go to a place with livability, the lifestyle and amenities for our employees," Steve Hemperly, site leader for JPMorgan's new Plano hub, told the Dallas Business Journal at the time. "This is a vibrant environment for them to work in."

JPMorgan's Legacy West campus was slated to bring about half of its 12,000 employees in North Texas under one roof — and is part of a larger strategy by the financial services giant to create a fluid culture in the region.

Dallas-based HKS Inc. is the project architect. Dallas-based KDC is the developer behind the campus, with Beck Group operating as the general contractor of the project.
